Project Description

Community Care

Our community care work began in Cleveland, Ohio, by providing essential supplies to people experiencing homelessness, including blankets, hand warmers, socks, and hygiene items. What started as a direct response to immediate need quickly revealed a deeper reality: many families impacted by substance use, mental health challenges, poverty, and systemic barriers lacked access to basic resources that could help them stay safe, healthy, and connected to support.

As those needs became clearer, Save Our Families expanded its work to include overdose prevention, disease prevention, and practical community support. Today, we provide free naloxone, HIV and HCV testing, safer sex supplies, wound care kits, hygiene items, clothing, condoms, and trusted referrals to community members at no cost.

Through programs like Nita’s Closet, we help restore dignity by making essential items available without shame, judgment, or unnecessary barriers. Our work supports safer use, disease prevention, personal care, and long-term connection to resources that help individuals and families survive, heal, and rebuild.

What began with blankets and socks has grown into a community care model rooted in dignity, prevention, and practical support for families impacted by substance use.
