Cleveland, Ohio, has been issued a reading challenge for 2023 to read 1,000,000 books or minutes spent reading. Mayor Bibb, the Cleveland Public Library, and many others have joined together in combating illiteracy in our communities. Recently, Felton Thomas, Executive Director & CEO of Cleveland Public Library, said, “The city, unfortunately, has a 66% illiteracy rate.” That is alarming! As a part of the 2023 challenge, Save Our Families will join and launch our virtual book club. We will use the website GoodReads for our virtual space; please join us there. Education is one of the things we encourage and support. Reading is the foundation of a solid education and aids in having a successful experience in life. To do our part, we will continue to provide books for free upon request and at our events. As a part of the challenge, we will share our updates on the books we’ve read throughout 2023 here on our website and social media pages.
